About Bonnie Wheatley
Bonnie Wheatley has been the editor of Barrel Horse News since January 2007. She grew up horseback working for various horse trainers, including her parents Jack and Sylvia McComber. Bonnie showed cutting horses successfully through high school before falling in love with the sport of barrel racing. Wheatley graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1994 with an English Literature degree before becoming professionally involved in the Western industry. Bonnie worked for 10 years covering various departments within the Professional Bull Riders, Inc., participating in the sport’s evolution from a mere upstart to a mainstream product with a passionate audience. She is a cardholder in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and enjoys attending regional events whenever possible. Bonnie and her husband Scot have two beautiful children who also love riding – a boy, Regan, age 7 and a girl, Sage, age 3. The Wheatleys live on a small acreage on the Eastern Colorado plains near Colorado Springs where they rope, ride and enjoy the Western lifestyle as much as possible.
